VISION STATEMENT
Cork Mental Health Housing Association has a vision of a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all, and that those experiencing mental health difficulties are treated with respect and compassion in a fair, just and positive manner.

 

Cork Mental Health Housing Association is a dedicated housing organisation which actively supports and empowers people who experience mental health difficulties in the community through the building and management of high quality social housing throughout Cork City and County. The Association was registered as a company in 1962; we are a registered charity and a non-profit organisation.

Cork Mental Health Housing Association has experience in working with Local Authorities, the HSE and other Mental Health Voluntary Agencies in the area of Housing for almost 50 years. We undertake developments in consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE) and our dwellings are occupied by applicants who are nominated by the HSE Mental Health Services Team.

We are also a registered approved housing body with the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. Our housing stock is made up of the following types; large houses for up to 14 residents with staff employed by the Health Service Executive (HSE) supporting the residents on a 24 hour basis, independent single apartments/houses and 2 and 3 bed houses, with residents being supported by their local HSE Mental Health Services team.

 

Cork Mental Health Housing Association complies with the Voluntary Regulatory Code for Approved Housing bodies.

We currently manage over 35 properties throughout Cork City and County, catering for over 100 residents. Many of our residents have come to Cork Mental Health Housing Association after leaving long term institutional care. Others residents are referred to us from the HSE Mental Health Services when in need of independent living accommodation.

MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE
Cork Mental Health Housing Association is managed by a Voluntary Board of Directors, who bring a diverse range of expertise to the Association. These expertise include areas such as mental health, education, finance & human resources to name but a few.
The Board are supported by a Development Manager, a Development Officer with responsibility for Housing, and administrative staff.

OUR OBJECTIVES
1. To work in partnership with voluntary and statutory agencies in identifying the housing needs of people experiencing mental health difficulties; and within resources, develop, provide, and maintain high quality housing services of varying models in response to the identified needs.
2. To influence policy changes in the provision of housing for people experiencing mental health difficulties.
